There are free activities available during the Christmas period across Babergh and Mid Suffolk for children of families who are eligible for free school meals, pupil premium, or have an ide… |
The Holiday Activity Fund (HAF) was created on the back of Marcus Rashford’s campaign where he bought to light that children who are eligible for benefit-related free school meals were not eating during the holidays. The Department of Education, along with the Department of Work and Pensions put together a fund which provides eligible children access to free activities and food in the Easter, summer, and Christmas holidays. Eligible children include those that are entitled to free school meals, pupil premium, or have an identified need. There is also a Suffolk County Council ringfence of funding for children who are not in receipt of free school meals, but who could benefit from HAF provision such as young carers and vulnerable children.
Please circulate this information with your contacts so that we can ensure as many children are accessing this provision as possible.
We are also looking for new providers in the rural patches across Babergh and Mid Suffolk, so if you are aware of any organisations that could provide enriching activities for children during the holiday periods please do contact myself or Rachel Cattermole (HAF Coordinator for BMSDC) via Rachel.Cattermole@baberghmidsuffolk.gov.uk.
Thank-you for your continued support.
Kind Regards,
